Formula One News – New Team structure for BMW Sauber

After the last article on the unvieling of BMW Sauber’s new car they have also announced their new management structure following Peter Sauber’s purchase of the team from BMW. Sauber himself will become president of the board of directors and will lead as team principal at all Grands Prix.

The new managing director at the team’s headquarters will be 38 year-old Monisha Kaltenborn, who has been their head of legal affairs since 1998. In her former role Kaltenborn looked after relations with the FIA, FOM and the teams’ association FOTA and has been a member of the board of management since 2001. An Austrian national, she completed a law degree at the University of Vienna before graduating as a Master of Laws from the London School of Economics.

Sauber’s son Alex, who has worked as manager of professional Swiss football team Neue Grasshopper Fussball AG for the past two years, will take over responsibility for the team’s marketing activities. He also holds a law degree obtained in Zurich – after which he worked for two years at a firm specialising in sports and media law. Between October 2006 and October 2007 he completed an MBA in Sport Management in Liverpool.

A list of other positions within the team are as follows:

  • Willy Rampf – He will be in charge of the teams engineering department.
  • Urs Jampen – He returns to the position of finance director.
  • Jurg Flach – He joins the board of directors as director of operations with overall responsibility for production.

    BMW Sauber has been assured a place on the grid oin the 2010 season but have yet to be officially confirmed on the FIA’s entry list.
